I.        Communicating in Business Situations

Target Level:  Intermediate to Advanced non-native speakers of English

 

Description:  Web-based language training featuring a Flash recording application that allows users to submit a series of work-related speaking tasks called Performance Activities.  A dedicated trainer reviews student recordings and provides text and audio feedback within 48 hours addressing pronunciation and clarity of speech, fluency of expression and other critical skills.  A series of Practice Activities allows users to improve listening skills, use of idioms and colloquial language, and grammar.  Speaking topics include, but are not limited to:

• Talking about professional responsibilities and learning about others’ responsibilities
• Participating in meetings by asking and responding more effectively to questions 
• Speaking on the phone 
• Explaining graphs and other presentations of data
• Expressing evaluation, decision-making processes and other functions of Critical Thinking 
• Planning for the future

Course Includes:  

• Four months of access to Business English Web 
• Pre and post-program on line Assessment
• Program of activities targeted to meet individual needs
• 30 core Performance Activities with student audio upload / trainer text and audio feedback (first 3 months) 
• 2 mini-Presentations (3 slides per presentation)
• 15 hours of Assigned Language Practice Activities 
  Communication Bridge for linking with other students
• 45+ additional hours of optional Language Practice Activities featuring pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, speaking and grammar

II.      Presentations and Pronunciation

Target Level: Intermediate to Advanced non-native speakers of English

 

Description:  Web-based presentations training featuring a Flash recording application that allows users to upload PowerPoint presentation slides with audio.  A dedicated trainer provides text and audio feedback on all submitted recordings addressing presentation organization, focus and speaking habits for an American style presentation, pronunciation and clarity of speech issues for each user.

 

Course Includes: 

• Four months of access to Business English Web 
• Pre and post-program on line Assessment
• 20 core Performance Activities with student audio upload / trainer text and audio feedback (first 3 months) 
• 2 PowerPoint Presentations reviewed (10 slides each); 3 mini-Presentations reviewed (3 slides each)
• 15 hours of Assigned Language Practice Activities; Communication Bridge for linking with other students
• 45+ additional hours of optional Language Practice Activities featuring pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, speaking and grammar

Additional slides, presentations and performance activities can be submitted for additional fee.
